In this issue of SmartDO eNews, we will introduce how SmartDO was applied on optimizing the design of an induction motor. This material was presented on the 2015 SmartDO Conference, by Professor Pei-Jen Wang at the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan

In the presentation titled "Design Optimization of Electric Motors - A Design Example", SmartDO was coupled with ANSYS RMxpert to minimize the total loss of the motor, by changing the shape of the slot. The results showed SmartDO was able to reduce the total loss by 9%.
